Our product portfolio can be described simply as 'we make machines that do not yet exist'. Since 2007 we have specialized in developing and producing innovative machines that make a valuable contribution to the business operations of our customers at home and abroad in the agrofood sector. Chemical-free weed control has become our core business. From the Noordoostpolder (Flevoland) we translate the wishes of our customers into innovative and functional solutions with attention to sustainability, environment, soil, water and society.
Andela Techniek & Innovatie was founded by Paul Andela, son of a polder pioneer. Paul has been active in the sector since 1989 and has led various projects and developed machines nationally and internationally. The pioneering mentality is characteristic of our family business.
In 2009 we started developing the Andela Solar Weeder, a self-propelled machine on which hand weeders can comfortably remove weeds. The machine is powered by solar panels and driven by electric motors and is therefore CO₂ neutral. We have now sold over 600 Solar Weeders in the Netherlands and abroad, which we supply directly to our customers. In 2014, our Solar Weeder achieved 8th place in the KvK Innovatie Top 100.
Due to increasing labor shortages combined with continuously rising costs in chemical-free weed control, our customers asked us for a solution. The development of the Andela Robot Weeder was for us a logical next step in the market that we know inside and out and in which we have a large European network. The Andela Robot Weeder is a fully autonomous weeding robot that detects weeds in-row using artificial intelligence and then removes them with electricity. In the long term, the Andela Robot Weeder will also be an alternative to conventional arable farming due to the decreasing availability of crop protection products. In addition, the technology we developed responds to the social call for less use of chemicals.
The development of the Andela Robot Weeder ARW-912 has earned us several awards. In 2022 the prestigious Agribusiness Award, the 2022 Entrepreneurship Award of the Municipality of Noordoostpolder and the Flevopenning Toponderneming 2023.
For removing weeds between the rows and flat fields we have developed the Andela Electro Weeder ontwikkeld. The Electro Weeder removes weeds to the core. The soil remains undisturbed, so that no seedbed is created for new weeds.
In addition to our solutions for chemical-free weed control, we offer custom construction and machines for tree nursery technology.
